No Twilight for me, thanks...

OK, so I'm NOT a fan of Twilight books. Just look at my profile, peeps!

I didn't like the first one - thought it was a total TIME SUCK, but, I thought I'd give the second one a shot -

another TIME SUCK, and don't ask me why I even bothered with the third one.

I'm ashamed to admit I actually read the third after not even liking the first two.

But mark my words:
I will not read the fourth one. I will not read the fourth one. I will not read the fourth one.

Up to this point in time, I thought that Alyssa, Kourtni's friend's mom Shawna, and I were the only three people who actually thought these books were brainless and empty with a leading character who lacked any depth or charisma.

That is until now! After stalking Bill's cousin's blog and some of her friends' blogs as well (I know, it's an addiction, people!!!), I came across the most intellectually stimulating review of the Twilight "books" that I have ever read.

You can read it here.

Trust me - it's a very thoughtful analysis of what I've been feeling all along! (I just couldn't put it into words like an English major could!!!)

Thank you, thank you, "brilliant leslie"!
My thoughts and feelings about these pitiful books have been totally justified!!

I can now finish the rest of my day on a happy note!
And by the way, if you want to read a really good piece of vampire literature, read:

The Historian

Elizabeth Kostova

Now that's a vampire book!

Blog stalker alert! I totally agree with you about "Twilight." I'm glad someone finally put it into words!

As a side note, I just spent an early Thanksgiving dinner with my in-laws, with my 2 sister-in-laws trying to convince me to see the movie with them. Funny how "Twilight" can take over an entire dinner conversation -- drives me crazy...

Me, too, Liz. I like to talk about things that are interesting!

Wow, all I've heard about these books is how wonderful and addicting they are!! I know nothing about them. I am not a reader, but according to everyone, I should try reading Twighlight. Gosh, this is the first negative thing I've heard about the books!!! Interesting, Kris! What about your girls? Have they read them?

Wow! How do you really feel, Kris? :) I liked them a lot, and I liked the movie. But no one will ever accuse me of being an intellectual, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Have a great Turkey Day!! I WON'T be to the gym tomorrow--but I may have to go twice on Friday! Ugh!

Tracy - yes, all three have read at least one. Alyssa couldn't stand the first one and quit after that one. Kourtni and Lindsay both read them and Lindsay, although she didn't eat, sleep, drink, or talk for about a day while she was reading them, says that she didn't like them either. They are a strange addiction, I guess because they are so easy to read. Bill can't get over the fascination women have with vampires and my brother-in-law was always saying, "Oh, Edward" every time my sister picked up the book! Too funny.

As for you, Stephanie, silly girl, I'm definitely not an intellectual! heh heh, but, I just felt like the books were pages and pages of nothing but "feelings" and "holes in her soul" types of stuff. I got bored. Quickly. :D

I also liked the books! I agree that it was an addiction...you had to find out what happened. I however did not get caught up in all the hustle and bustle of them.

But I did enjoy reading your oppinion and your blog stalking blogs oppinion. It is fun to hear from someone who didn't like them ;o)
